Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from therapy.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if this is your first experience of therapy. I aim to create a gentle, supportive environment where you can talk openly and ask any questions you may have.

There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Do you offer online and telephone counselling?

Yes. I offer online counselling via Zoom, telephone counselling and face-to-face sessions in Chorlton, Manchester.

Some clients appreciate the flexibility of online or telephone sessions, whilst others prefer meeting in person. We can discuss what feels right for you.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. As therapy progresses, there will be opportunity to review and reflect on the frequency of our work together.

What issues do you work with?

I work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, emotional neglect, low self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties, stress, burnout, cultural identity and life transitions.

I also support those exploring ADHD, Autism and different ways of experiencing, processing and responding to the world around them.

For couples, I work with communication difficulties, conflict, trust issues, emotional disconnection, intimacy concerns and major life changes.

What approach do you use?

My work is relational and trauma-informed. I also draw on other approaches, including CBT, mindfulness and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), tailoring sessions to your individual needs and what feels most helpful for you.

Do you work with clients from different cultural backgrounds?

Yes. As a Black British therapist, I understand that our culture, identity and family experiences can be an important part of our story.

I welcome conversations about race, identity and belonging, whilst recognising that every person’s experiences are unique. I am committed to offering an inclusive practice where clients feel respected, valued and able to bring their whole selves into therapy.

Our work together will always be approached with warmth, sensitivity and curiosity by myself.

Are counselling sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is an important part of counselling. Everything discussed in sessions remains confidential, with a few exceptions relating to safety, safeguarding and legal obligations. These will be explained during our initial session.

What are your fees?

Individual counselling sessions are £65 per session.

Couples counselling sessions are £95 per session.

I also offer a limited number of concessional spaces, as I believe therapy should be accessible and affordable.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss this further.
